Deconstruction!

Carl had a eureka moment this fall when he found Deconstruction Works. We had talked a lot about construction waste in the knocking down and rebuilding of houses in this country. Think about the East Wing, after all. A lot of perfectly good nails likely got thrown away in that demolition. Carl and I don’t want to have that happen at Carl’s childhood home. Deconstruction Works’ business model is aligned with our imagining and implementing process. Ever on the bleeding edge of the cutting edge, it will cost more to deconstruct the old building than it would to just knock it down and tote it away. However, instead of a dumpster full of waste, Deconstruction Works finds buyers for the materials and/or donates them. In turn, we get the tax right off that might, in fact or in theory, offset the cost of the demolition. Win/win.
